World of Warships is introducing a brand new game mode, Arms Race-coming with Update 0.7.9!
The basic rules are similar to those of Random Battles with 24 players divided into two 12-man teams fighting on three different maps. To win, they must eliminate all of their foes, gather 1000 points or nullify the points of the enemy! Only Tier IX and X ships can participate.
The maps are called Warrior’s Path, Mountain Range and Islands of Ice. All of them have two starting zones and a middle one where special support areas spawn at random. When your ship enters these special zones you get a bonus which is applied to all of your teammates.
The first key areas appear before the start of battle. One on the left flank, another on the right and another couple in the middle. Additional bonus areas will spawn at the flanks as the battle continues and every three minutes a new area will appear in the center with a maximum of ten. Note that area spawning is mirrored. This means that if one area spawns closer to you on the right flank, another area will spawn on the opposite flank, closer to the enemy team. Areas don’t activate immediately, there is a two-minute interval between spawning and activating.
There are three types of buffs, namely Reduction of ship detectability, HP recovery and Main battery and TTs reload speed bonus. Each has six levels with the ship that first enters the bonus zone getting two levels of the buff and all other allied ships in a 12km radius getting one level of it!
A ship can have all three buffs in the same time and once triggered, they stay until the end of the fight! If you enter a zone with a bonus that you already have, you get extra levels of it. For every triggered zone, your team will earn 20 points and your opponent will loose 20!
After 10 minutes, a key area spawns in the center of the map. It has a capture time of 150 seconds. If you manage to seize it, you will earn 10 points for every 10 seconds of occupation, so it may be the key to winning the match!
