Winning Putt is a golf simulator with some RPG elements and it was released in January 2016 by Bandai Namco.

Players start as an amateur golf player and the goal is to reach the pro leagues by playing other players or NPC’s so that they can reach the top of the rankings.

There is an interesting and extensive character customization available and the game offers three player types to start from: Power, Accuracy and Balance.

After creating a character the tutorial is carried out by instructor Christina and it consists of many exercises with objectives so that the newcomers can learn shot control, targeting, choosing clubs and putting.

The graphics of the game are beautiful and both the characters and the environment contains wonderful details. Every time a new level is achieved players earn gold that can be used at the game’s shop for balls, bags and clubs.

The game has a lot of depth and requires players to take into consideration the wind direction, the slopes of the course, the mentality, the stamina and the club equipped.

Audio wise the sound effects of the game are realistic and done neatly but the voice acting and the background music could have been a bit better.

What makes Winning Putt different is that apart from being a simple golf game it uses many RPG elements like character stats, skills, leveling, enchanting, guilds, quests and even PvP!

Finally, there is an in-game Club Shop that has a variety of items and some even provide stat boosts.

This is a negative feature as it can become heavily pay to win. Overall, Winning Putt is one of the most interesting golf simulation games and is a really fun game if you are interested in the sport.

I would recommend giving this game a try but do it casually as if you want to reach the top ranks heavy grinding is required or paying with real money.

Growing up I had the luck to encounter the art of video games at a very young age in South Africa in 1990. I was captivated from the first moment I played video games from the educational math games at school to the purely entertaining video games at home. This love cultivated in studying Audio and Visual Arts, where I created the interactive audiovisual play in the form of a video game titled "The Life of Death". Over the last few years I have also been a videogame journalist as a hobby. Recently, I completed my Postgraduate studies in Games Art and Design at the University of Hertfordshire. My goal is to get into the video games industry and be a part of the creation process of video games.
