Travian is a popular free-to-play Massive Multiplayer Online Real Time Strategy (MMORTS) game from Travian Games. It is set in ancient Europe where players have to create an empire starting from a petty village.

You start as the leader of a small village surrounded by fields, mines and forests. You must choose one of the three available factions, Romans, Gauls or Teutons, each with their distinct characteristics and artwork. There are two servers, the normal one and the slightly faster one. Your server selection is important since Tavian has an end-game purpose where after a given period of time (300 or 100 days, depending of the server) a nomadic tribe attacks the world and players must defend against it while building a World Wonder.

Gathering resources is absolutely essential; you collect lumber, clay, iron and crop with the latter being your main focus since it’s used to sustain your armies. When enough buildings have been built and upgraded and you have managed to maintain a constant flow of resources, it is time to amass an army, appoint a general and start exploring your surroundings; settlements you encounter can either be ransacked or become allies. Generally speaking, alliances are a very important part of Travian; they can literally be your life-savers in difficult situations.

Travian features colorful 2D graphics with beautiful and detailed artwork for buildings and military units, a nice soundtrack and a big, dedicated and helpful community. Its gameplay may sometimes be challenging, especially in Wonder-building, but is highly addictive and most entertaining. Why don’t you give it a try?

It was back at 1996 when Theodoros bought his first Personal Computer and with it a copy of Shogun : Total War. That was the beginning of many sleepless nights of exploring the fantastic world of gaming. He calls himself an “expert” defender and that’s his favorite gameplay style but he will not hesitate to grab a shield and go forth to protect his team as a tank. So next time you adventure in Azeroth and see a shield bearing cow named Klaras, you have found our guy! He is also a great fan of Role Playing Games. From Icewind Dale to Neverwinter Nights and Skyrim, you name it, he has played it all! He is not your average casual gamer, he is a dedicated fan!
