The Infinite Black is a free-to-play sci-fi strategy game developed and published by Spellbook. If you are intrigued by games like Elite Dangerous or FTL Faster Than Light then this one should already be on your radar. In The Infinite Black you’ll be able to command space fleets and lead them to victory through an easy-to-learn but hard-to-master gameplay system.

The Infinite Black is basically an MMO but won’t give you all that flashy effects and space battle chaos that you might want to see. All is managed through a, sadly, dated UI system with text and buttons to guide you through. However, even without the stylish looks, this game manages to have all the depth strategy players are longing for.

You begin the game as a rookie pilot of 0.5 level stationed at Earth with just a small shuttle. As you win PvE battles and farm materials to start expanding. What’s interesting is that, even though the UI is pretty dull, its intense gameplay will keep you hooked for hours.

You won’t be able to go far through without the help of Alliances. Joining a guild in The Infinite Black is a huge part of the game and will unlock doors that you wouldn’t believe exist if you played alone. Its community is friendly so everything you need you can find just by asking people in the chat.

Let’s get to the red flags though. The Infinite Black is extremely pay-to-win. You wouldn’t expect from a game of such depth to include so many microtransactions, however, if you want to get competitive and join the rankings demands some serious money grabbing.

Overall, The Infinite Black is a hardcore oldschool strategy MMO that promises to keep you hooked with its micromanagement and loot farming. If you don’t mind the occasional microtransactions or, otherwise, endless grinding then you should go ahead and give it a try as we speak.
