SOS Battle Royale Review

There you are, stranded on La Cuna Island, with only your wits to help you survive. Or what you call your wits, what the rest of us might call annoying.

This game is just a mess. It’s basically a bad version of fornite, with less players, less weapons, and 1000% the irritation. You see, one of the main tenants in this game is the audience system, in which you are encouraged to basically.. Be a streamer. Yes, this is an entire game developed around the idea that the streamer is the competitor, and his audience out of game, translates to his audience in. Basically, this boils down to a small handful of streamers who have stuck around, with nearly every other player having either been banned by the devs for “stream sniping”, or having simply quit of their own accord.

What used to be an interesting little game has become something grotesque. Every bit of individuality that SOS held prior to being converted over to a BR is gone, and with it, so too is it’s player base, and any sympathy that the community may have potentially had for it.

This game is a cash grab through and through. I could never recommend playing it, and in fact, I’ll even go as far as to recommend that you do not.

A writer of fiction and lover of all things fantastical, Matthew has spent many of his days immersed in one created world or another, be they an MMO, traditional video game, or a work of literary fiction. Having been both an avid writer and video game lover for his entire life, the next logical step seemed to be, you guess it, writing about video games. And so here he is, doing that.
