SNOW is a winter sports simulator with some minor MMORPG details. It was developed and published by Poppermost Productions in 2013 and is still getting updates as its development team is really dedicated to it. If you are familiar with winter sports then it might remind you of Steep, even though SNOW is a much simpler and easier version of it.

Character creation is as simple as it could be with little customization since your character is most time distinguished by the branded gear he will wear later on, but we’ll get to that later. If you are a minimalistic design enthusiast then you’ll love the fact that its UI is a minimalistic 2 color interface which gives it a really cool character as it should.

After that you are placed on mountain Sialia where you can compete in open world events and competitions with other players to achieve the rank of King of the Mountain. You can try skiing, snowboarding and snowmobile riding and achieve as much points as possible. You get points by doing tricks and perfect landings as well as how far you traveled and the time you did on it. Points may also get reduced as you fail tricks and fall.

More points award more credits which is the vitrual currency of SNOW. With credits you can buy gear from real brands which your character will wear. Their prices are high so you may need to grind a bit more than you’d expect.

Its graphics are really impressive and you can even see realistic trails behind your character. That was expected though, as SNOW is a really demanding title from your system, requiring a lot of ram and CPU power. Other than that this game looks beautiful but nothing compared to the likes of Steep.

Let’s talk bad things now. What you’ll notice pretty early on is that characters don’t have such a realistic movement as they should. Most times they fall they’ll role in ragdoll physics which is hilarious. Also you’ll notice some major bugs which may even cost you the track you compete on since they some times cause you to die.

Summing up, SNOW is a really interesting winters game simulator with easy to learn but hard to master mechanics. Apart from that, it is aesthetically pleasing and offers a very different kind of entertainment since it’s played in an open world. If you are a winter sports fan then you should definitely try it.
