Silkroad R (R for Rebirth) is the free-to-play Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) from Joymax. It’s actually a remake of the original Silkroad Online title with changes in item drop rates, level requirements, class design, and improved anti-boting mechanisms.
Before you start your adventures you must create your Hero; there are two factions, Europeans and Chinese and each has a different starting city (respectively Constantinople and Jangan). Your chosen faction affects not only your appearance but your class options. In Silkroad R, the weapon you favor determines your class with Chinese having a smaller selection of arms but no armor restrictions, while Europeans’ armor type is directly connected with their weapon of choice.
The quest-driven story will take on a magical journey imitating the famous Silk Road that brave traders used to take for untold riches. You can choose the life of a Trader and venture these perilous roads for a fortune, or you can become a Hunter and protect those caravans for a fee. Finally, you can become a Thief and risk your life in order to get your greedy hands on the riches of others!
The game features nice 3D graphics with beautiful landscapes and detailed artwork for characters and monsters; the soundtrack adds a certain Eastern feeling and the various sound and visual effects add up to the whole experience. Combat is typical of the genre and is a combination of keyboard shortcuts and mouse clicking. What is more, there is a Berserk bar which fills with every kill; once full, you gain a temporary boost to your stats and become an actual killing machine!
You will also find pets that can be summoned to aid in battle, mounts, a wide variety of aesthetic additions in the cash shop, crafting professions, and upgradeable gear and if you choose to go hunting you may team up with others and fight world bosses or try to clear difficult dungeons. Finally, players of level 40 and above can engage in PVP events like the Arena, Guild Wars or the Battlefield of Infinity!
Silkroad R is an old-school title with modern graphics and a very interesting story that will keep you occupied for a very long time!
