Sacred Saga Online Review

Sacred Saga Online is a free-to-play, browser-based, MMORPG game developed by FreeGame. It is one of the many eastern browser games, featuring generic graphics, colorful sprites, a hub world, and automated combat.

The player is the chosen hero of the Greek goddess Athena, tasked with the sacred duty to defend her city from other divinities: the likes of Hades, Ares, and Poseidon. In fact, the game is based on Greek mythology, which makes for quite a strange combination, given its quirky graphics and eastern anime style. The Gods convey the impression of superheroes more than divinities and their mythological personas are rather skin-deep, borrowing nothing from their literary counterparts.

Players chose one of the three main classes and then build their characters aiming at exploiting the weaknesses of their foes. Although the combat is fully automated, meaning that the player passively observes his party playing out animations, this little countering mechanic adds some strategic depth to the overall experience.

As part of the character in-game development, one can aim at becoming a Zodiac Knight, wielding special powers and incantations. The latter are quite useful when attempting to tackle the more powerful world bosses.

This said, factually this game adds little new to the Chinese browser game formula. Once one has played one of these games, there’s clearly no reason to play another: the experience is quite similar, if not exactly the same.

Furthermore, the decent sound and okay graphics are not enough to make this title a recommendable one.
