Hazard Ops is a free to play third person MMO shooter game that was developed by Yingpei games and was published by Infernum Games in October 2014. The game takes place at the end of the 21st century where the world is filled with chaos and destruction. The players take the role of a mercenary that is part of the largest private military agency that fights against all threats and invasions with the goal to reclaim earth.

The game offers both PvE and PvP options that are filled with engaging fast paced combat and a big variety of game modes and maps. PvE pits players against waves of zombies and even large spiders. PvP includes the game modes that have been common in these types of games, with the Team Death Match mode to be the most prominent one available.

Even though starting out for the first time it might be an overwhelming experience, fortunately there is an extensive and helpful tutorial. There is an option to completely skip this but I would strongly advise against it. The gameplay of Hazard Ops hits the right spot on many levels. The shooting mechanic is well made and it requires true skill to master it and it is really satisfying.

The graphics of the game are well done and the visual effects like explosions are really amazing. As a free to play game there are micro-transactions that unfortunately offer stat boosts in the form of sets of weapons and equipment that can be purchased with real money. All in all Hazard Ops is a fun and interesting game to try out if you enjoy FPS games and is worth a try.

Growing up I had the luck to encounter the art of video games at a very young age in South Africa in 1990. I was captivated from the first moment I played video games from the educational math games at school to the purely entertaining video games at home. This love cultivated in studying Audio and Visual Arts, where I created the interactive audiovisual play in the form of a video game titled "The Life of Death". Over the last few years I have also been a videogame journalist as a hobby. Recently, I completed my Postgraduate studies in Games Art and Design at the University of Hertfordshire. My goal is to get into the video games industry and be a part of the creation process of video games.
