GunZ 2: the Second Duel is a free-to-play 3D Third Person Shooter developed and published by Masangsoft Inc. It’s the sequel of Gunz: The Duel which became a close memory, bringing a unique game from the wave of free-to-play gaming from korea in the 2000’s. It provided Fast-Paced gameplay, with a high skill curve due to a glitch in the game that allowed players to execute complex inputs. That was supposed to be the case with Gunz 2 too, but along came all the problems that non popular online games come with.

The playstyle of the game is a tense, fast paced TPS more reliant on using firearms compared to what many were used to with melee weapons in Gunz. Furthermore, you now choose your character from a pool of classes other than create your own. The gameplay is much more focused on run and gun, but it can still be great fun.

Getting the timing down and using the environment to your advantage still provided great key-mashing fun, such as when chaining dashes while in combat. It is still very easy to die if you make yourself a easy target by just aiming while on the ground, you will just get taken down quickly by easy head shots. Depending on your surroundings is essential to Gunz 2 and that’s the biggest part of its fun.

However, its extremely low playerbase and constant lags and crashes make it almost unplayable. If you can’t find a decent match to try out the game then what’s the point of it to begin with. Even if you are a casual player, you’ll find that its campaign is short and is limited to players that don’t enjoy multiplayer. For what it’s worth, its beautiful graphics and well designed maps make up for the lack of content and players for some time.

For players new to this genre, this game is easier to pick up compared to the first. You just need to get down the idea of thinking outside the box, be unpredictable. Get off the ground and on the walls and choose your engagements wisely. Things come down to if you can manage your temper against lag and crashes so that you can enjoy the game. Overall, Gunz 2 is a fair experience and is sure worth the try.
