Grepolis is a free-to-play, Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO) strategy game from InnoGames. It takes place in the Ancient Greece where starting from a small village you try to create an empire.
In the beginning, you will have to pick a world to play in. The most important thing about worlds is their speed; ranging from 1 to 3, the numbers represent game speed. After this step you are taken to your village where a very helpful tutorial will teach the very basics. As in every title of the kind, raising and upgrading buildings, resource gathering and technology discovering are the foundations of your empire.
Once you have set up a flourishing economy and established a constant resource flow, you are ready to raise an army. There are many different units to recruit, each with different abilities, weaknesses and advantages. Combat is easy to master and requires careful planning and strategic use of your units. There are special units you can acquire that will greatly improve your fighting chances.
The game features simple but appealing 2D graphics with nicely detailed models for the various building and military units. The player community is huge, dedicated and very competitive; you will soon understand that if you want to survive you must join an alliance. Your allies will help you when you are attacked or when you need resources; it goes without saying that you must do the same too!
