Duelyst is a free to play online 2D Strategy game, by Counterplay Games. It successfully combines and redefines the best of two MMO worlds, collectible card and tactical combat games, bringing a fresh perspective to the table and engaging players to dive deep and explore the lore and mysteries of the inhabitants of Mythron.
The game is centered around competitive 1×1 PVP matches between two players that fight on a turn-based basis. Each one has to strategically play his/her deck in order to use lethal weapons, cast deadly spell and eliminate the opponent’s General. Battles are fought in very short timeframes between 5 and 10 minutes and are therefore super-fast-paced as you need to quickly analyze each situation and make proper decisions. Duelyst takes it one step further and besides relying on deck building and card management, presents a new additional element of grid management where players must also excel at positioning and movement within the given 5×9 battle arena.
You can choose from six available factions, each one with its distinctive strengths and weaknesses, and assemble your own deck from an extended pool of over 400 cards. By leveling up you will unlock new cards, minions, artifacts, Generals and spells and be able to participate to Seasonal Ladders or Gauntlets so you can further level up and rip more valuable rewards. Newcomers may prefer to make a stop at Training Grounds before advancing, in order to get a hold of the game’s basics and also gather some extra rewards.
With an innovative approach, new elements on hand and nice graphics and animations, Duelyst surely is successful at its attempt and stands out from the competition.
