With each passing day, the battle continue. Whole cities, full of warriors and diplomats, all vie for one thing, and one thing alone. Complete and unadulterated power. Being a robotic soldier from one city, it is up to you, along with you compatriots, to not only defend your home, but to also go out on the offensive.

In order to truly be great, one will have to work for it. Slowly, you will build up your robots weapons and skills, customizing it as you go, in order to become eventually the full fledged war machine that you are destined to. You will be tasked with the decision of what to upgrade, and what to disregard. Will your robot perhaps be proficient in the art of stealth and assault, overtaking his enemies silently from the shadows? Or perhaps a more straightforward method is your preference, and you will gravitate more towards the big guns, and fiery explosions offered by the Guard class, one of the four available as of right now.

One of the more interesting features of CityBattle | Virtual Earth is its city control. Cities with more powerful armies will earn more “TechnoParks”, high tech energy plants that will line your pockets, as well as the pockets of all of your civilian allies. Cities with more TehcnoParks will be given the options to pay their robot pilots more, develop a greater understanding of science, and to increase their own knowledge and proliferation of advanced architecture.

One extraordinary aspect of CityBattle | Virtual Earth is its class system. With over 70 subclasses to mix and choose from, it is almost a guarantee that you will not be facing up against an enemy, or alongside an ally, with exactly the same abilities, advantages, and disadvantages that you have. This level of customization is something that is rarely seen in a game similar to this, and is something that, to this writer, seems truly unique and wonderful.

Along with combat ready players, every city will also be required to be led. This will be done through a system of election, similar to those we experience here, in the real world. One player out of every member of the city will be elected by popular vote to be the Mayor of the entire city! And this title isn’t just for show. The Mayor will have the great responsibility of hiring the cities ministers, those men and women who are responsible in full for the day to day goings on of the city itself. The Mayor will also be tasked with choosing how the money is spent, in both budgetary and military regards.

CityBattle | Virtual Earth promises to be a unique, and action packed class based fps that will allow not only for a deep level of personal customization, but for an in depth look at player cooperation, and at the systems and each individual city ends up using to govern.

While the Class Based FPS market is undoubtedly over saturated right now, CityBattle | Virtual Earth may very well be just unique enough to rise to the top, and to become something that is truly special.

A writer of fiction and lover of all things fantastical, Matthew has spent many of his days immersed in one created world or another, be they an MMO, traditional video game, or a work of literary fiction. Having been both an avid writer and video game lover for his entire life, the next logical step seemed to be, you guess it, writing about video games. And so here he is, doing that.
