AION is a free-to-play Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG), developed and published by NCSoft. It is set in the fantasy world of Atreia where two factions, the Asmodians and the Elyos, fight for control and survival. The game features one of the most in-depth character customization systems. Players begin by choosing their faction, then the class and finally the details of their hero from a vast variety of choices. The whole process is so meticulous and detailed that you can even fine-tune your facial characteristics.

AION offers exactly what one would expect from a MMORPG; professions, upgradeable gear, crafting, pets, a plethora of quests, battles, dungeons and raids. Combat is pretty much standard, although the element of flying (for a small period of time), adds some variety. AION’s Player versus Player (PVP) battles, take place in the Abyss where heroes fight each other and computer generated enemies for honor and item rewards. For a game published in 2009, the title manages to look attractive featuring pretty good graphics with a huge, colorful world and a nice soundtrack. What is more, content is updated regularly (the game counts five expansions so far) with new areas added and higher level caps.

If you are looking for a traditional old-school MMORPG with a dedicated in-game community, that looks good, plays good and is free, then AION is probably the next installation on your computer.

Good

It was back at 1996 when Theodoros bought his first Personal Computer and with it a copy of Shogun : Total War. That was the beginning of many sleepless nights of exploring the fantastic world of gaming. He calls himself an “expert” defender and that’s his favorite gameplay style but he will not hesitate to grab a shield and go forth to protect his team as a tank. So next time you adventure in Azeroth and see a shield bearing cow named Klaras, you have found our guy! He is also a great fan of Role Playing Games. From Icewind Dale to Neverwinter Nights and Skyrim, you name it, he has played it all! He is not your average casual gamer, he is a dedicated fan!
