9Dragons Review

9 Dragons is a free to play 3D MMORPG by JoongWon Games set in ancient China during the Ming Dynasty. As a martial arts themed title, expect to be able to play relevant heroic roles.

The game gives you the option to select your Clan among Wu Tang, Shaolin, The League of Beggars, Heavenly Demon, Sacred Flower, The Brotherhood of Thieves, Black Dragon, Disciples of Iron Fist, and The Union of Noble Families. The first three choices consist the White Clans, who are loyal to the emperor. The next three consist the Black Clans, who are not loyal; and the last three consist the Advanced Clan category. By joining a Clan, you will gain the ability to learn advanced attack and meditation skills, earn karma points at a faster rate and be able to join forces with other players of the same Clan or form strategic alliances.

Within each Clan, you can select your preferred Class, which defines your weapons as well as the abilities that you can learn.  Players can select among becoming a Warrior, with a focus in melee combat, a Strategist (Healer), specialized in healing and buffing skills, a Chi Kung Artist (Nuker) with a focus on magic skills and ranged attacks, a Holist (Hybrid), an all-around player, or a Vagabond. The latter is considered a weak Warrior, does not belong to a Clan and cannot learn any advanced techniques, but has certain special advantages that can prove decisive.

Graphics wise the game does not offer much and its presentation seems certainly outdated. However, featuring a great Class variety, a nice theme, fast-paced action, intense PVP and a friendly community, it may appeal to a certain audience that is looking for an old-school, martial arts-themed MMORPG.
