Each year in Hearthstone, takes its name from one of the constellations in Azeroth’s sky. So, as we say goodbye to the year of the Mammoth, we welcome the year of the Raven!
As always, the new year will bring a new expansion and older card sets that wasn’t released the previous year or the year before, will cycle out, becoming unavailable for Standard format. In this way, new players can keep up with veterans and the game remains fresh with new mechanics! Of course, Wild cards can always be crafted with Arcane Dust or bought from the Online Shop.
The Basic, Classic, Journey to Un’Goro, Knights of the Frozen Throne, Kobolds & Catacombs and the First 2018 Expansion sets will be used in Standard format, while the Whispers of the Old Gods, One Night in Karazhan and Mean Streets of Gadgetzan sets will only be available to Wild. And as it’s customary, the new year will also bring three new expansions! Exciting!
What is more, three cards from the Classic set, the Ice Block, Coldlight Oracle and Molten Giant will be removed and added to the Hall of Fame collection; you will keep your copies of these card once they move to the Hall of Fame, and you’ll also receive the full Arcane Dust value for each one of them (up to the maximum number that can be used in a deck). Additionally, Quests will become quicker to complete and those that rewarded you with 40 Gold will now give you 50!
The Fireside Gathering feature, introduced in the year of the Mammoth will stay and will become even more exciting and for the first time players will be able to create their own customized tournaments from within the game client! Finally, we will meet a new Hero, Lunara, the eldest daughter of Cenarius a relentless defender of the wilderness with a reputation to uphold. When you win ten games in standard Ranked or Casual mode she will be yours!
